In the field of ubiquitous and secure communication with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

•  mobile ad-hoc networks,

•  embedded systems and network programming in Linux,

•  network simulations with ns-2.

Work includes collaborative research projects with industrial and academic partners in the framework of European research programs, NEC internal product and prototype development, as well as standardization work in international forums such as the Car-to-Car Communications Consortium (C2C-CC), ISO and IETF. It is expected that research scientists participate in all aspects of research, development, trials, scientific publications and standardization. A strong interest in pre-product development of communication protocols is required. English is the working language in the Laboratories.

You should have experience in developing communication protocols and in performance evaluation of mobile communication networks. Target platforms for software development will be PCs and embedded systems. We expect knowledge in software development methodologies and experience in using programming languages, such as C and Java. We expect at least a Master of Science Degree in computer science or electrical engineering, candidates with a PhD degree will be preferred.
