in the field of future technologies for mobile communications. Experiences in one of the following fields are of advantage:

•  mobile communications and next generation networks
•  communications security architectures and protocols,
•  Internet signaling protocols (SIP),
•  embedded systems, ad-hoc and wireless sensor networks,
•  context-aware services and context processing in large scale distributed systems,
•  middleware and service platforms (J2EE, .NET, Web Services).

Work includes collaborative research projects with industrial and academic partners in the framework of European research programs, NEC internal product and prototype developments, as well as standardization work in international fora like 3GPP, OMA, IETF, IEEE and ETSI TISPAN. It is expected that research staff members participate in all aspects of research, development, trials, scientific publications and standardization. A strong interest in pre-product development of communication and security protocols as well as mobile applications is required. English is the working language in the Laboratories.

You should have experience in developing communication protocols, services, middleware and/or security solutions. Target platforms will be PCs and embedded systems. We expect knowledge in software development methodologies and experiences in the programming languages C, C++ and/or Java. A good understanding of distributed application architectures is required.
